Terms of Service

The short version

Delancey is a personal assistant you text, operated by Matt White for a small group of people he knows while he builds it. It is free for you, it comes with no guarantee, and you stay in charge of what it does for you. By texting Delancey, opening its pages, or connecting your Google account, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.

What Delancey does for you

  • It answers your texts, remembers what you tell it, and keeps notes it shares back with you.
  • Once you connect Google, it reads your mail, calendar and Drive files to do what you ask, adds and moves calendar events, and writes email drafts. It only drafts mail: nothing is sent until you open the draft and tap Send yourself.
  • It uses websites on your behalf when you ask, with logins you have saved for it. It asks before spending money or submitting anything that matters, unless you have given it a standing yes for that kind of thing, which you can see and take back on your vault page.
  • It may text you first when it notices something you would want to know.

Your Google account

Connecting Google is optional. When you do, you authorize Delancey to use your Google account as described in the privacy policy, only to carry out what you ask of it. You can take that permission back at any time from your home page or from your Google account permissions page, and Delancey stops at once. Your use of Google’s services through Delancey is also subject to Google’s own terms.

What you agree to

  • You are at least 18, and you use Delancey for yourself and your own household.
  • You only connect accounts and save logins that are yours, or whose owner has clearly said you may use them.
  • You do not use Delancey for anything illegal, to harass, stalk or deceive anyone, to send spam, or to get around another service’s rules or security.
  • You check its work before relying on it where a mistake would be costly: money, travel, health, legal and official matters. Delancey makes mistakes.
  • You do not try to break into Delancey, overload it, or copy it.

No guarantee

Delancey is unfinished and changes often. It can be wrong, slow, or quiet. It is provided as is, with no promise that it works, keeps working, or does what you meant. To the fullest extent the law allows, Matt is not liable for anything you do or lose by relying on it. If Delancey goes quiet for more than fifteen minutes on something that matters, text Matt directly.

Cost

Matt covers what Delancey costs to run. Anything Delancey buys for you, with your yes, is paid with your own card and is yours.

Your information

What Delancey collects, how it uses and protects it, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted are set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

Leaving, and changes

You can stop at any time by texting Matt, who will delete your information as the privacy policy says. Matt can end the beta, or your access to it, at any time, and will tell you when he does. If these terms change, the date at the top changes, and Delancey texts you about anything that matters.
